Geometry decides what you can climb
Capability off-road is largely a matter of shape. How steeply the ground can rise before the front bumper touches it, how much space sits between the lowest part of the vehicle and the ground, how far a wheel can droop while the others stay loaded.
Each of these has a formal term, and they are measured and quoted by manufacturers precisely because they predict real capability better than power does.
