FAQs
How do I interpret the feedback after each guess?
After each attempt, you'll see circles next to your guess. A filled circle (●) means you have a dot that exists in the pattern AND is in the correct position. An empty circle (○) means you have a dot that exists in the pattern but is in the WRONG position. Use this feedback to eliminate incorrect combinations and narrow down the solution.
What's the difference between the three game modes?
Practice mode gives you unlimited attempts to solve each pattern, perfect for learning the game mechanics. Challenge mode limits your number of attempts, adding pressure and requiring more strategic thinking. Countdown mode races against the clock, challenging you to solve patterns as quickly as possible.
How many dots do I need to connect in each difficulty?
Easy difficulty uses 4 dots in the pattern, Medium uses 5 dots, and Hard uses 6 dots. More dots mean more possible combinations, making the puzzle increasingly difficult to solve.
Can I play BreakLock offline?
Yes! BreakLock is a Progressive Web App with service worker support, allowing you to play offline once the game has been loaded. This makes it perfect for playing during commutes or in areas with poor internet connection.
Is there a strategy for solving patterns faster?
Start by trying different combinations to identify which dots are in the pattern at all. Once you know which dots are included, focus on finding their correct positions. Avoid repeating the same guess, and use the feedback systematically to eliminate possibilities rather than guessing randomly.
Does the game work on both mobile and desktop?
Yes! BreakLock is fully optimized for both mobile devices (touch controls) and desktop computers (mouse and keyboard). The responsive design ensures a great experience on phones, tablets, and desktop browsers.
How are patterns generated - are they random?
Yes, patterns are randomly generated for each game, ensuring that you'll never encounter the exact same puzzle twice. This keeps the game fresh and challenging, requiring you to use logic and deduction each time rather than memorizing solutions.
