How to Play
- Start by selecting 'Start Game' from the main menu. You'll begin in a colorful maze with four ghosts.
- Use arrow keys or WASD to guide Maze Chomper around the maze. Move carefully and strategically - every move matters.
- Your primary goal is to eat all the yellow dots scattered throughout the maze. Each dot eaten is 10 points.
- As you eat dots, watch for the 4 flashing power pellets (energizers) strategically placed in corners of the maze. These are your secret weapons!
- When you eat a power pellet, all ghosts turn blue and become frightened - they'll run away from you instead of chasing.
- Quickly chase down the scared ghosts and eat them! The first ghost eaten is worth 200 points, the second 400, the third 800, and the fourth 1600 - cumulative bonuses!
- After about 5-6 seconds, the ghosts turn back to normal colors and resume hunting you. Timing is crucial.
- Special bonus fruits appear on the screen when you've eaten a certain number of dots. Eat them for massive points (100-5000+ depending on level).
- Complete the level by eating every single dot on the maze. When all dots are gone, you advance to the next level with faster gameplay.
- You start with 3 lives. If a ghost touches you (when they're not frightened), you lose a life. Lose all 3 lives and the game ends.
- The game has 21+ levels, each progressively faster and more challenging. Ghost speeds increase, power-up duration decreases, and strategy matters more.
- When you reach certain score milestones, you earn bonus extra lives to continue playing.
- Try to complete as many levels as possible and achieve the highest score to claim a spot on the leaderboard (top 10).
- Remember: there are tunnel shortcuts on the sides of the maze - use them to escape pursuing ghosts or trap them strategically.

FAQs
How do I turn ghosts blue and vulnerable?
Eat one of the four flashing power pellets (energizers) positioned in the corners of the maze. They appear as larger, blinking dots. When eaten, all ghosts instantly turn blue and become frightened, running away from you instead of chasing. You have about 5-6 seconds before they return to normal (exact time varies by level).
Why do I get more points for eating multiple scared ghosts?
Eating scared ghosts in quick succession during one power pellet activation provides escalating bonuses: first ghost = 200 points, second = 400, third = 800, fourth = 1600. This encourages you to strategically hunt down all ghosts before the effect wears off, rewarding skilled play with huge point multipliers.
What happens when I lose all my lives?
When you lose all 3 lives (touching a non-frightened ghost 3 times), the game ends with a 'Game Over' animation. You can then save your final score by entering your name to compete on the leaderboard. If your score is in the top 10, you'll be permanently ranked. Select 'New Game' to try again from level 1.
Why is Pinky so hard to escape compared to other ghosts?
Pinky doesn't chase your current position like Blinky - she predicts where you'll be 4 tiles ahead and tries to cut you off. This intelligent targeting makes her the hardest ghost to evade. To escape Pinky, avoid moving in straight lines, change directions frequently, and use maze features to break her pursuit calculations.
Do ghost speeds and power pellet duration change across levels?
Yes, significantly! In early levels, ghosts move slowly (0.75-0.85 speed) and power pellets last 6 seconds. By level 5+, ghosts move at 0.95+ speed and power pellets only last 2-3 seconds. This escalating difficulty forces you to adapt your strategy - early levels teach mechanics, later levels demand mastery and quick decision-making.
What are bonus fruits and when do they appear?
Bonus fruits appear in the center of the maze when you've eaten a certain number of dots (the threshold decreases as you progress). They're worth massive points - starting at 100 (Cherry on level 1) and scaling up to 5000+ points on higher levels. The fruit changes based on your level, so level 1 shows cherries, level 2 shows strawberries, etc. Eat them quickly before they disappear after a few seconds.
What are the tunnel shortcuts and how do I use them?
Tunnels are passages on the left and right edges of the maze that allow you to quickly teleport to the opposite side. When you move into a tunnel entrance, you instantly appear on the other side. Ghosts move significantly slower in tunnels (about half speed), making them an excellent escape route when surrounded. They're also useful for trapping scared ghosts - corner them in a tunnel where they can't escape.
